Downtown streets to close Dec. 1, 7, 8 for holiday events
November 25 2024AUBURN, Ala.- Downtown streets will close for upcoming holiday events including:
Sunday, Dec. 1: Downtown Auburn Holiday Fair
The Downtown Merchants Association will host the Downtown Auburn Holiday Fair on Dec. 1 from 2-5 p.m. East Magnolia Avenue between College and Gay streets will close at 1:30 p.m. On-street parking will close at 12:30 p.m., and all vehicles parked along the street should be removed by that time. All remaining vehicles will be blocked in until the event ends.
Saturday, Dec. 7: Jingle Jog 5K & Santa Stroll
Auburn Parks and Recreation's Jingle Jog 5K & Santa Stroll will begin at 6:30 a.m. in downtown Auburn. Downtown streets will close at 5:30 a.m. and reopen around 9 a.m. College Street will be closed from Thach to Tichenor avenues and Magnolia Avenue will be closed from Gay to Wright streets. Vehicles parked along the street will be unable to leave until the streets have reopened.
Sunday, Dec. 8: Auburn Christmas Parade
The Downtown Merchants Association's Auburn Christmas Parade will be held in downtown Auburn at 2 p.m. Downtown streets along the parade route will close at 1 p.m. Cars parked along the parade route will not be able to leave between 1:30 p.m. and the end of the parade at 3 p.m. There will be no parking on Tichenor Avenue to allow the parade ample space to pass through. Vehicles remaining on Tichenor after 1:30 p.m. will be subject to towing.
The parade will begin at the intersection of Thach Avenue and South College Street, travel east on Thach Avenue to Gay Street, north to Tichenor Avenue, west to College Street and south back to Thach Avenue.
All fans attending the Auburn University Men's Basketball Game at 11 a.m. are asked to be aware of the street closure times. If heading downtown after the game, visitors are advised to travel via Donahue Drive to Magnolia Avenue to Wright Street and park in the Wright Street Parking Deck.
